We want to do much more than sell you a vehicle from our amazing selection. Let us earn your loyalty and make you our next long-time customer. You will never need another H-D® dealership again!

2021 Model Year Sportster® S

The Sportster® S is the newest addition to the Harley-Davidson® lineup, and it features the Revolution Max 1250T V-twin engine. The T stands for torque. Although the Sportster® S is new, its family is not. In fact, the family can trace its roots all the way back to Model K, which debuted in 1952. That said, the new Sportster® S represents a dramatic departure from the motorcycles that have come before it. There is much greater focus here on modern engineering, and many see this as an attempt to earn market share among other naked retros rather than adhere to what makes H-D® so unique and iconic. The truth is probably somewhere in the middle, and there absolutely is room for a bike like this in the H-D® lineup.

2021 Model Year Indian Scout

As soon as the 2021 Harley-Davidson® Sportster® S was introduced, it drew comparisons to the 2021 Indian Scout. The Scout is a 561-pound motorcycle that offers easy handling. That makes it a popular option as an entry-level ride. But its iconic American styling and liquid-cooled 1,133cc V-twin engine make it popular among more experienced enthusiasts as well. Indian manages to strike a great balance between modern performance and its old-school appeal. It also offers the Scout in more than a half dozen packages, and that price range helps it appeal to both new and established riders as well.

Harley-Davidson® vs Indian

It goes without saying that there is a great deal of crossover appeal between these brands, and that is certainly apparent when comparing the 2021 Indian Scout and Harley-Davidson® Sportster® S. While Indian certainly has a long history as well, the Harley-Davidson® story dates back a dozen uninterrupted decades. A big part of the appeal is the sense of freedom and the association with classic Americana. Indian has certainly leaned into its race legacy and has sought to outdo H-D® on that front. But it has struggled to match the behemoth that is H-D® when it comes to its support network and customization options.

Sportster® S vs Scout

The current Scout has carved out a niche for itself with its plucky middleweight cruiser, and comparing the 2021 Harley-Davidson® Sportster® S vs 2021 Indian Scout made it clear that this is at least part of the market H-D® is targeting. A main appeal of the Scout is its liquid-cooled engine that makes more than 100 horsepower. That was not as easily achieved with an air-cooled engine. So, Harley-Davidson® opted for the liquid-cooled engine that debuted with the Pan America. It offers about 25% more torque than the Scout, and while the horses aren’t as high as with the Pan America, they are 21 more than the Scout.
