2021 Harley-Davidson® Iron 1200™ vs 2022 Yamaha Bolt

Comparing the 2021 Harley-Davidson® Iron 1200™ vs 2022 Yamaha Bolt is a fun exercise that has captured the imagination of motorcycle enthusiasts, and we’ll share our thoughts here in a bit. First, we’d like to talk about who we are. Harley-Davidson® of Wesley Chapel is among the leading H-D® dealerships in the nation, and we have an entire team of H-D® pros serving Tampa St. Petersburg Clearwater and beyond. Our inventory of new motorcycles is bigger and more diverse than any in the region, and it, of course, features the 2021 Harley-Davidson® Iron 1200™. But our success is predicated on much more than just a great selection. Count on us to go that extra mile to deliver the best customer experience possible!

The 2022 Model Year Harley-Davidson® Iron 1200™

Harley-Davidson® expanded its Sportster family when it introduced the Iron 1200™ for the 2018 model year. Retro is in, and the 1200 sports a paint job and other custom touches that feel straight out of the 1970s. It also features an air-cooled Evolution engine that delivers plenty of performance. The H-D® engineers have blended the retro appeal with cafe styling and added a bit of rock ‘n roll to boot. It features a low seat height, an upright riding position, mini-ape handlebars, mid-mount foot controls and blacked-out accents. An anti-lock braking system can be added as an option.

The 2022 Model Year Yamaha Bolt

The 2022 Yamaha Bolt is a classic cruiser and the newest addition to the Yamaha lineup. This is a stripped-down cruiser that minimizes the chrome and boasts a wide range of blacked-out features. It was initially designed for Yamaha’s home Japanese market, but Yamaha is bullish that it can find success overseas in markets where the Harley-Davidson® and Indian enjoy success. The Bolt features a low seat and has a stable chassis. It is designed to be quick, agile and responsive. There has also been great focus on the rider experience, such as feeling the wind and hearing the sounds of the engine.

Harley-Davidson® vs Yamaha

Often, when these two brands are compared, there is often a focus on Harley-Davidson®’s iconic tradition and Yamaha’s innovation in the crotch rocket space. But neither of these brands is so easily defined, and comparing the 2022 Yamaha Bolt to the Iron 1200™ certainly reflects that. Sometimes, we make certain presumptions about each other, and while there may be some truth to it, it can cause us to miss the crossover appeal among bikes made for both motorcycle enthusiasts in the East and in the West.

Iron 1200™ vs Yamaha Bolt

While comparing the 2021 Harley-Davidson® Iron 1200™ vs 2022 Yamaha Bolt does reveal some performance differences, none of the are substantial enough to dwell on. In fact, this comparison feels more at home when you focus on the philosophical differences rather than the specifications. A motorcycle journalist recently surmised that the Iron 1200™ feels like a living organism and the Bolt a precision machine. An important component in the allure of the Iron 1200™ is the feel, and this is an area where the Iron 1200™ is unmatched. Yamaha understands the importance of the rider experience. They spent a lot of time on the feel of the Bolt but just lack the experience that Harley-Davidson® has.

Experience the Iron 1200™

If you are an experienced Harley-Davidson® enthusiast, then you probably know exactly what me mean when we say that the Iron 1200™ provides a rider experience that other cruisers do not. If you do not know what we mean, then you can test-ride the 2021 Harley-Davidson® Iron 1200™ at our location, and you can schedule that appointment online. We would also encourage you to test-ride the 2022 Yamaha Bolt so that you can experience that remarkable difference yourself.

Your Local Harley-Davidson® Pros

Harley-Davidson® of Wesley Chapel is proud to be the leading H-D® dealership serving Tampa St. Petersburg Clearwater and the surrounding areas. Our team looks forward to helping you decide on the 2021 Harley-Davidson® Iron 1200™ or whichever H-D® motorcycle is best for you. If you already own the Iron 1200™, then we encourage you to check out our newest parts and accessories. While Yamaha has made strides in this area, customization is still an aspect of Harley-Davidson® that is unparalleled.
